US announces joint operations with Nigerian forces in Northeast to counter terrorist threats

US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has announced joint operations with the Armed Forces of Nigeria in Northeastern Nigeria.
The joint operations according to a statement by the Command stressed the partnership’s role in countering terrorist threats and protecting people and interests.
In a post on X, AFRICOM wrote, “Committed to protecting our people & our interests. In coordination with the Armed Forces of Nigeria, operations in Northeastern Nigeria underscores the value of our partnership.
“Make no mistake, our two nations will relentlessly pursue & neutralize terrorist threats. #Nigeria”
The announcement reiterates a firm, shared commitment by both nations to pursue and neutralise terrorist networks in the region.
