Arsenal have been confirmed as Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday night, a result that leaves Mikel Arteta’s side uncatchable with one game remaining.
Man City needed a win at the Vitality Stadium to keep the title race alive, but despite a late Erling Haaland equaliser they could not take all three points.
The draw means Arsenal, sitting on 82 points, cannot be overtaken and are officially crowned 2025/26 Premier League champions — their first top-flight title since the 2003–04 “Invincibles” season under Arsène Wenger.
The triumph represents a major milestone for Arteta, who has transformed Arsenal into consistent title challengers after three consecutive second-place finishes.
Arsenal’s success this season has been built on defensive solidity: the Gunners have recorded 19 clean sheets and goalkeeper David Raya claimed a third successive Golden Glove.
Although Arsenal briefly lost momentum following a defeat to Manchester City earlier in the campaign, they responded with a run of wins without conceding that ultimately proved decisive in the title race.
Manchester City’s slip-ups in the closing stages — notably dropped points against Everton and now Bournemouth — allowed Arsenal to open an unassailable advantage.
Arsenal’s consistency down the stretch ensured they stayed ahead despite earlier setbacks.
Arsenal now turn attention to European duty, where they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30; a victory there would complete a historic double and cap off one of the club’s most successful modern seasons.
The Gunners are expected to lift the Premier League trophy at Selhurst Park after their final league match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
