Iran’s Central Command has announced Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz is closed again, citing United States President Donald Trump’s failure to meet ceasefire obligations.

Passage now requires Iranian consent.

“Trump failed to fulfill his obligations, so the Strait of Hormuz is closed again, and Iran’s consent is required for passage,” the command stated.

“The Iranian Armed Forces have restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz,” it added.

Video released shows IRGC gunboats with flags patrolling the vital waterway, which handles 21 million barrels of oil daily.

The closure heightens US-Iran tensions, following a U.S. naval blockade and fragile Lebanon-linked truce.

This came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday declared the strait “fully open to all commercial vessels for the remainder of the ongoing Lebanon ceasefire.”
