Iranian defender Nader Mohammadi has produced one of the most unusual assists of the Russian First League season after using a spectacular somersault throw-in to help Spartak Kostroma defeat SKA-Khabarovsk 3–1.
With Kostroma leading 2–1 in the 83rd minute, Mohammadi performed a forward flip before launching the ball deep into the penalty area.
A teammate then headed the delivery into the net to complete the scoring and secure victory for Spartak.
The 29-year-old defender, who joined the Russian club in July 2026 after playing in Iran, is renowned for his technique.
His gymnastics background allows him to generate extra momentum and distance, with previous reports highlighting his ability to send the ball more than 50 yards from throw-in situations.
The rare method, reminiscent of flip throws used by a handful of footballers in the 1990s, quickly went viral on social media.
Mohammadi had already showcased the technique earlier in the season, but this was the first time it directly produced a goal for Spartak Kostroma.
The victory moved Spartak Kostroma into second place in the Russian second tier.
