Baale of Yawota Community in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, has reflected on the anger of the community after government officials reportedly offered rice and cash as consolation to families whose children were kidnapped in a May 15, 2026 attack.

Speaking in Yoruba in the footage, the Baale is heard saying, “When government officials came to console us, they brought rice and money, but the parents rejected it and stated that they only want safe release of our children.”

The remark follows an armed assault on school in the area on May 15, during which gunmen abducted dozens of pupils and teachers.
