Nigerian singer Portable has sparked viral backlash after blaming his defeat to content creator Carter Efe in a high-profile celebrity boxing match on his opponent’s height, long reach, and unfair matchmaking—while prioritising his newborn son over a championship belt.
The bout headlined Chaos in the Ring 4 at Balmoral Hall in Lagos, where all three judges scored it 27-30 in favour of Efe via unanimous decision, dethroning Portable as celebrity boxing champion.
Efe dominated the three rounds with cleaner punches, leveraging his physical advantages to control the pace.
In a fiery post-fight Instagram Live, Portable vented frustration, claiming robbery and demanding his “stream money amounting to about N200 million.”
“I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them?” Portable said.
“They knew Carter Efe is tall and has long hands but still put him in a boxing with me. I value my life as I am a new father to a bouncing baby boy and that is better than a belt.”
He doubled down on family over fame saying, “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt but not my child.”
Portable also accused organisers of “ojoro” (foul play) and threatened trouble if unpaid, escalating to an unsubstantiated N23 billion claim.
Social media erupted with mockery, contrasting Portable’s pre-fight bravado—“I will use you to collect my third belt… Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you, and I beat them”—against his excuses.
Efe had brushed it off simply: “One punch and you fall.”
Efe’s win cements him as the new celebrity boxing kingpin, fueled by the stars’ massive followings and ongoing beef.
