Video: Seun Kuti storms out of Peller, Jarvis wedding over Wizkid-Fela joke

Seun Kuti, has walked out of the Lagos white wedding of TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis on August 1 after a joke by the master of ceremonies comparing Wizkid to his father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, did not go down well with him.

A viral clip from the event showed the Afrobeat musician looking displeased before leaving the venue, saying, “We are in the wrong place.”

The incident happened at the star-studded ceremony in Lagos, where celebrities, influencers and musicians gathered for the couple’s white wedding.

According to reports circulating online, the MC’s remark suggested Wizkid was “bigger” than Fela, a line that appeared to trigger Seun’s immediate reaction.

Seun has long rejected comparisons that place contemporary Afrobeats stars above Fela’s cultural and activist legacy.

The tension also ties back to his earlier public feud with Wizkid, during which both men traded words over claims and counterclaims about Fela’s status in music history.

The wedding drama quickly sparked reactions online, with many describing the MC’s joke as insensitive for the occasion.
