Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that the United States failed in all its attempts to force Tehran into submission during the 2026 conflict.

In an interview broadcast by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, Araghchi said Washington initially demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” before allegedly shifting its objectives towards regime change, national disintegration and the creation of internal unrest.

“America demanded unconditional surrender from Iran. Then it pursued regime change, disintegration and internal unrest—and failed in all of them,” Araghchi said.

The foreign minister presented the outcome as a victory for Iran, arguing that sustained military resistance and diplomatic pressure compelled the United States and its allies to negotiate on Tehran’s terms.

The remarks form part of Iran’s post-war narrative following US-led airstrikes that began on February 28, 2026.

A 60-day memorandum of understanding signed in June later expired without a comprehensive agreement, while disagreements over the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz remained unresolved.

Araghchi also maintained that Iran’s resistance had prevented the collapse of its political system, echoing his earlier assertion that regime change was an “impossible mission.”

He said Tehran’s military and diplomatic response had forced its adversaries to reconsider their objectives.
