Video: US officials stunned by Iran’s willingness to escalate

The United States has warned Americans across the Middle East to consider leaving or prepare to depart after a fresh rise in tensions with Iran, following reports of missile attacks on a U.S. base in Jordan and new concerns about regional retaliation.
Axios reporting described Iranian posture as unusually aggressive, with some U.S. officials said to be stunned by Tehran’s willingness to escalate.
The warnings came as U.S. embassies in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE issued nearly identical alerts on August 1, citing the risk of “unforeseen escalation,” possible flight cancellations, and airspace closures.
The advisories also said Americans should consider departing, or be ready to leave if the situation worsens.
Iran’s latest military move followed reports that its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched multiple ballistic missiles at a U.S. military base in Jordan in what U.S. Central Command called an “attempted surprise attack,” with the missiles intercepted, Dailyeconomy reports.
That incident has intensified fears of wider fallout across the region.
The developments sit within a broader cycle of direct confrontation between Washington and Tehran that has already seen deadly attacks, retaliatory strikes and repeated security warnings across the Middle East.
