18 House of Reps members defect from ADC, split between NDC, APC

In a dramatic shake-up at the National Assembly, 18 members of the House of Representatives defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday, with 16 joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and one switching to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defections unfolded during plenary in the Green Chamber, as the lawmakers publicly announced their decisions on the floor of the House.
They cited political realignment and constituency interests as primary reasons for the moves, which span multiple states and geopolitical zones.
Key defectors to the NDC include:
• Yusuf Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam, Kano)
• Uchenna Okonkwo (Idemili North/Idemili South, Anambra)
• Adamu Wakili (Minjibir/Ungogo, Kano)
• Thaddeus Attah (Eti-Osa, Lagos)
• George Ozodinobi (Njikoka/Dunukofia/Anaocha, Anambra)
• Prof. Lilian Orogbu (Awka North/Awka South, Anambra)
• Oluwaseyi Sowunmi (Ojo, Lagos)
• Peter Aniekwe (Anambra East/Anambra West)
• Mukhtar Zakari (Tarauni, Kano)
• George Oluwande (Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos)
• Munachim Umezuruike (Port Harcourt I, Rivers)
• Emeka Idu (Onitsha North/Onitsha South, Anambra)
• Jesse Onuakalusi (Oshodi-Isolo I, Lagos)
• Ifeanyi Uzokwe (Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo, Anambra)
• Afam Ogene (Ogbaru, Anambra)
• Abdulhakeem Ado (Wudil/Garko, Kano)
Separately, Leke Abejide (Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro, Kogi) crossed over to the APC.
