Ibrahima Konaté has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract.
Konaté in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday thanked the club, team-mates and supporters after five years at Anfield.
“Dear Liverpool, five years ago, I arrived as a young player with big dreams. Today, I leave with memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” Konaté wrote, reflecting on his time at the club.
He paid tribute to team-mates and staff, and to supporters for their “love, your energy, and your incredible support.”
The defender also acknowledged hard personal moments during his spell in England, including the death of his father and the loss of team-mate Diogo Jota described in his message as “our brother Diogo,” calling those experiences among the most painful he has faced.
Konaté said he did not realise his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt would be his last.
“I am deeply saddened that I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to all of you at the last game. At that moment, I didn’t know it would be my final time wearing this shirt in front of you.”
Konaté finished his message by explaining he is leaving to pursue “a new challenge and a new chapter,” and signing off with thanks and a promise: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything. I love you all and will carry Liverpool with me wherever I go… See you again soon, Inshallah.”
The 25-year-old centre-back joined Liverpool five years ago and leaves as a free agent.
