The Kwara State Police Command has opened a discreet, full-scale investigation into the brutal killing of a farmer, Azeez Garba, whose body was found on his farmland along the Owa‑Onire axis, the boundary between Isanlu‑Isin and Owu‑Isin in Isin Local Government Area.

This was made known in a statement that was signed on Tuesday by SP Adetoun Ejire‑Adeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara Command.

Commissioner of Police Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, described the slaying as “cruel, senseless and unacceptable” and ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to “immediately deploy all available investigative and intelligence assets towards identifying, tracking and apprehending those responsible.”

According to preliminary findings, Garba left home in the morning to attend to his farm but did not return.

Family members and local vigilantes began a search after his absence, locating his motorcycle parked at the farm and his lifeless body a short distance away with deep machete wounds.

No arrest has been made so far.

The Command said it assures the bereaved family, the people of Isin Local Government Area and the public that “every available lead is being diligently pursued.”

Police noted that they are working assiduously to determine the circumstances of the killing and to ensure that “all those connected with this heinous crime are identified and brought to justice.”

The Kwara State Police reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and said it “will not relent until every person responsible for this reprehensible act is brought before the law.”
