President of NASFAT, Ayodeji Abdulrauf, has said that June 12 remains “a special day for Nigeria electorates” while warning that the country still struggles with deep problems, especially energy shortages and a widening gap between citizens and government.
“Why have we not been able to get together as a nation to resolve our serious energy problem?” Abdulrauf asked, urging the Renewed Hope government of PBAT to open doors to stakeholders, experts and Nigerians in the diaspora to help find solutions.
He warned of “a crisis of confidence” that has eroded Nigerians’ faith in the future and called for collective sacrifice and action.
“We’ve got to stop crying and start sweating, stop talking and start walking, stop cursing and start praying,” he said, adding that energy reform could “rekindle our sense of unity, our confidence in the future, and give our nation, a new sense of purpose.”
Abdulrauf praised private efforts to ease fuel shortages, thanking Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his refinery, and urged the government to set a clear energy policy so new demand is met from domestic production.
He closed by calling on Nigerians to “join hands” and work for a rebirth of the Nigerian spirit.
