Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has announced a fresh breakthrough in the search for abducted students and residents in Borno State, confirming the rescue of six additional abducted persons following coordinated air and ground operations.
In a statement obtained from the Nigerian Army, OPHK said troops “successfully rescued six additional abducted persons comprising four adults and two infants at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area.”
The rescued victims, who were reportedly abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area in May, have been evacuated to a secure location where they are undergoing medical evaluation and receiving care.
The statement added that Operation HADIN KAI has “provided immediate relief materials and basic necessities to alleviate the effects of their ordeal, while arranging for their safe reunification with families.”
It described the rescue as the product of “sustained air and ground exploitation supported by credible intelligence.”
OPHK emphasised the continuing pressure on insurgents after the rescue, saying troops remain “in aggressive pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, maintaining relentless pressure along their withdrawal routes and denying them freedom of action.”
During exploitation of the militants’ withdrawal axis, forces recovered “50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents,” the statement said.
Reassuring the public, the command pledged that “Search and Rescue operations will continue with renewed vigour until every remaining victim is safely accounted for,” and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
The statement also warned the public to “disregard unverified information capable of causing unnecessary anxiety.”
Officials from the Theatre Command and Borno State Government have reiterated their commitment to the safe recovery of abducted persons and to restoring lasting peace across the North East as operations continue.
