The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced Thursday that American naval forces are enforcing a blockade on ships entering or departing Iranian ports, marking a sharp escalation in the standoff with Tehran.

In a post on X, CENTCOM stated, “U.S. naval vessels are on patrol in the Gulf of Oman as CENTCOM continues to execute a U.S. blockade on ships entering and departing Iranian ports. U.S. forces are present, vigilant, and ready to ensure compliance.”

Accompanying video footage shows US destroyers issuing radio warnings to vessels, ordering them to turn around or prepare for boarding and potential use of force.

Early reports confirm full compliance, with no breaches recorded as ships reverse course upon interception.

The blockade, which began on April 13, 2026, follows a presidential directive after failed ceasefire talks.

It targets Iran’s maritime trade, including critical oil exports, to apply economic pressure.

Non-Iranian vessels are permitted transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM is asserting control with warships, aircraft, and more than 10,000 troops in the region.
