Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division, alongside other security agencies, destroyed a notorious camp of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State’s Orsu Local Government Area on April 24.

According to a statement obtained from the Nigerian Army on Saturday, the operation along the Ubaha Orsu axis aimed to clear hideouts and locate remains of two soldiers—Master Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu and Private Gloria Mathew—abducted and killed by IPOB/ESN in May 2022 en route to their wedding.

Acting on intelligence, troops repelled heavy attacks, forcing terrorists to flee.

A search uncovered shallow graves with suspected remains, now secured for DNA testing.

“The recovered remains have since been secured for detailed forensic analysis,” the Army stated, adding efforts to confirm identities and arrange burials.

This success “underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for fallen heroes” and degrades IPOB/ESN networks.

The Army vows to continue operations for lasting peace, urging public vigilance.
