Insurance Week: Team InsurScenario wins CIIN INSURQUEST 2.0 Hackathon

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has opened INSURQUEST 2.0, the hackathon held as part of the institute’s 2026 Insurance Week, at the College of Insurance and Financial Management.
Declaring the event open on Thursday, CIIN President, Yetunde Ilori said, “It is my pleasure on behalf of the Governing Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria to welcome you all here.
“We are about making history again, because we are not done until we are done.”
Ilori outlined her EPIC agenda — “E” for education, “P” for professionalism, “I” for institutional and individual recognition and “C” for capacity building — and stressed the need to prepare the next generation.
“We will soon go off stage, handing over the baton to you,” said Ilori.
After presentations from six finalist teams selected from an initial 19 applicants, team InsurScenario was announced the winner.
Team Nexus placed second, Risk Architect third, CoverBot fourth, MediClaim AI fifth and Topsborg sixth.
Speaking with DailyEconomy after the competition Ilori said that the contest demonstrated cross‑disciplinary interest in improving insurance services.
She said, “They were not just six at the beginning, they were up to 19 groups, these presentations cut across claim settlement, taking up insurance, making access to insurance easy.”
She praised volunteer mentors, facilitators and judges, noting many contestants came from non‑insurance backgrounds
“We have medical doctors, we have strategists from different areas, we have technology-talented people,” she added.
Dr Yeside Oyetayo, Chairman of the Education Working Committee of Insurance Week, congratulated the competitors and organisers, concluding, “Thanks everyone and God bless.”
Organisers said the hackathon aimed to boost public understanding and uptake of insurance, showcase solutions for faster claims settlement and broader access to coverage, and encourage youth and secondary‑school students to consider careers in insurance.
