Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has announced that José Mourinho has reached a verbal agreement to return to Real Madrid on an initial two-year contract, with formal paperwork expected to be completed after Real’s upcoming match against Athletic Bilbao.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010–2013, guiding the club to La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa titles.
Reports say he is preparing to leave Benfica after an unbeaten domestic league season, as the Portuguese club looks to make a managerial change.
Sources indicate Mourinho will travel to Madrid after Real’s game against Bilbao to finalise documents.
The initial deal runs for two years.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have confirmed Hansi Flick has signed his new contract; formal steps to register the agreement are due to follow today.
Flick’s deal at Barcelona is reported to run until June 2028, with an option to extend through 2029.
