Iranian state media reported on Monday that a US Navy vessel was struck by two missiles from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near Jask Island, forcing it to retreat after ignoring repeated warnings.
According to reports from Iran’s Press TV and other outlets, the ship entered restricted waters in the Strait of Hormuz without coordination, prompting IRGC forces to fire the missiles in self-defence.
The vessel reportedly sustained damage and turned back toward the Arabian Sea.
The incident unfolds against the backdrop of the ongoing US naval blockade of Iran, imposed in April 2026.
The blockade has included seizures of Iranian-flagged vessels like the Touska, deployment of mines, and strict transit restrictions in the vital oil shipping route, through which about 20% of global oil passes daily.
Video footage circulated by Iranian media shows IRGC naval patrols issuing public warnings against unauthorised US movements in the waterway, underscoring heightened tensions.
